Prevalence of Methicillin Resistance Staphylococcus aureus in Community Cases of Pyoderma

نویسندگان

چکیده

Aim: To determine the susceptibility pattern of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) isolates pyoderma cases. Study design: Cross-sectional. Place and duration: Research was conducted in department Microbiology collaboration with Department Dermatology, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, Karachi, during period 1.8.2022 to 25.11.2022. Methodology: Total232 pus samples were collected from clinically suspected patients pyoderma. Pus swab cultured on blood MacConkey’s agar plates. Isolates identified by routine assay antimicrobial determined disc diffusion method. Results: Out 232 specimens, 196 (84.5%) culture positive; 170(86.7%) Gram-positive, 25(12.7%) Gram-negative 1(0.6%) Candida sp. S.aureus prevalent offender (119; 51.2%), followed S.pyogenes (51; 22%) S.epidermidis (3; 1.3%). showed 73(61.3%) MRSA. The highest rate resistance among all S. recorded for, penicillin, cefoxitin ciprofloxacin, 89; 74.7% 73; 61.3% 72; 60.5% respectively. Conclusion: is a significant number Therefore it mandatory for dermatologist start treatment after sensitivity testing failure recurrences. Keywords: aureus, Pyoderma, aureus,Streptococcus pyogenes.

Prevalence of Vancomycin Resistance in Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus

Background & Aims: Staphylococcus aureus is one of the most common pathogens in nosocomial infections. Vancomycin is the most important therapeutic drug of choice for treatment of infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains. Therefore, vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (VRSA) or vancomycin-intermediate Staphylococcus aureus (VISA) strains are warning...

Prevalence of resistance and toxin genes in community-acquired and hospital-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus clinical isolates

Objective(s): Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is one of the major health hazards and became of greater public health concern since the emergence of community-acquired MRSA. This work aimed to study the prevalence of mecA, femA, femB, lukS-PV, lukF-PV (PVL), intI, and intII genes among community-acquired (CA) hospital-acquired (HA) MRSA to increase vi...

Prevalence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in community-acquired primary pyoderma.

BACKGROUND Although prevalence of MRSA strains is reported to be increasing, there are no studies of their prevalence in community-acquired primary pyodermas in western India. AIMS This study aimed at determining the prevalence of MRSA infection in community-acquired primary pyodermas. METHODS Open, prospective survey carried out in a tertiary care hospital in Mumbai. Community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus: prevalence and risk factors.

Background: Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is resistant to most antibiotics and is an important pathogen of nosocomial infections. Colonization with MRSA is no longer limited to hospitalized patients or persons with predisposing risk factors and at present there are several strains of community-acquired MRSA (CA-MRSA). Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the p...

Bias in Methicillin Resistance of Staphylococcus aureus

Recently, several published papers aiming to isolate and characterize methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) have had major bias. For example, an article titled " Microbial Susceptibility and Plasmid Profiles of Methi-cillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Methicillin-Susceptible S. aureus " by Shahkarami et al. (1). Even though, the authors have spent respectable effort to repo...
